Rockdale County residents and business owners can take advantage of a free Paper Shredding event next month. Scheduled for Saturday, September 14, the shredding will occur from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot at 1400 Parker Road, Conyers, 30094. According to the county's announcement, the aim is to provide a secure method for the public to destroy and recycle outdated or unnecessary documents.
For those planning to clear out their file cabinets, there's a limit: only four banker boxes per vehicle will be accepted. To ensure the service is provided to residents and local businesses, participants will need to present a photo ID verifying an address within the County. Enlisted to manage the destruction process, A Cut Above Shredding will oversee the secure shredding of documents, operating under the watchful eye of government staff.
The event functions on a basis of the early birds getting the worm; service is first-come, first-served. There will be two shredding trucks available, but the organizers caution that once these trucks are filled to capacity, they won't take any more paper for the day.
Make sure that the papers up for shredding are ready to go – loose, folded, or in envelopes. Just remember, all metal clips, three-ring binders or adhesives need to be removed before shredding can be done. Hanging metal file folders and photographs also won't be accepted, Rockdale County detailed in their event guidelines.
The county has noted that the shredding is dependent on the cooperation of the weather. In the event that rain is in the forecast, the equipment might not be able to operate, which could push the event to a later date.
