Andrew Granderson has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the double-murder of two 18-year-olds, Joseph Ash and Micah Nero, during a house party in Sacramento. According to the Sacramento District Attorney's Office, Granderson was found guilty on two counts of first-degree murder, along with gun use allegations and the special circumstance of multiple murders on October 18, 2023.
The tragic shooting took place on November 1, 2020, after a Snapchat-advertised party at Mr. Ash's apartment invited the public to attend. When Granderson's friend, who had also gone to the party, was robbed of his jewelry by unidentified individuals, an unfortunate chain of events ensued; this friend was escorted to his car by Mr. Nero out of concern that the robbers might confront him again, after which he communicated to Granderson about the robbery, and it was then that Granderson decided to return to the party venue. Upon his arrival and the opening of the front door by the victims, Granderson committed the fatal act.
The Sacramento Sheriff’s Office homicide detectives were lauded for their perseverance and skill in investigating this heinous crime. Their work was instrumental in identifying Granderson as the shooter, as detailed in the prosecutor's case, leading to his conviction on all charges.
