Gabriel Velasquez, an 18-year-old man previously arrested for sexual assault of a minor, now faces additional charges after investigators discovered a trove of pornographic material involving children on his phone. According to MySanAntonio.com, Bexar County Sheriff's Office found 131 files containing explicit images of children as young as 4 years old.
Yesterday, Velasquez was arrested a second time with the new evidence found during the ongoing investigation of his initial arrest back in June. While on house arrest and monitored by an ankle device, it was revealed that Velasquez, along with three other men - Tyler Battros, 21; Ethan Gergory Fleming, 18; and Logan Martinez, 19 - have been implicated in the sexual assault of a minor. As reported by MySanAntonio.com, text messages from the victim’s phone indicated that the men engaged in sexual acts with her while she was legally unable to consent.
In a separate but equally disturbing case, a 45-year-old man, Mason David Caldwell, has been indicted on multiple counts relating to the sexual assault of a child. The announcement came from the Bexar County Criminal District Attorney Joe Gonzales, who emphasized the importance of protecting children in his jurisdiction. “Public safety, including and especially the safety of children, has always been at the top of my list,” Gonzales stated in a press release obtained by KSAT.com. Caldwell faces five counts of sexual assault of a child, one count of indecency with a child by contact, and 13 counts of online solicitation of a minor.
Investigations into Caldwell's activities began following a witness's report of witnessing inappropriate text messages on his phone, which was further supported by a tip-off on the cyber tipline for missing and exploited children.
