An incident unfolded in the North Side of San Antonio this past weekend, as a woman discovered her husband deceased in their backyard pool, local authorities reported. The San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) stated that the woman, after waking up and not finding her husband inside their home, went searching for him and discovered the scene shortly before 9 a.m. Saturday morning in the 5300 block of Maple Vista, just south of Loop 1604.
According to a report by Express News, the victim was identified as 41-year-old Joseph Rubalcaba. A preliminary police report detailed that his wife found him unresponsive and floating in the pool. In a desperate attempt to save her husband, the wife, with the assistance of a neighbor, attempted resuscitation efforts, which ultimately were unsuccessful.
The circumstances that led to Rubalcaba's drowning remain under investigation, but the SAPD has indicated that at this time, they do not suspect foul play. The details are still being pieced together to understand how the man drowned in the pool sometime overnight.
Meanwhile, KSAT reports that police found no signs of struggle or evidence suggesting a disturbance in the incident.
