A community reels after the arrest of a local teacher, Jack Daymond Allen, for child pornography charges and potential additional sexual abuse crimes, as announced by the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner's Department. The 62-year-old educator, who taught at Mary Putnam Henck Intermediate School in Lake Arrowhead, stands accused after a joint investigation that spanned across state lines.
Allen's apprehension follows a collaborative investigation by the Peters Township Police Department in Pennsylvania and Homeland Security Investigations, which began on January 22, 2024; during the probe, they discovered that Allen had made contact with a minor via an online chat platform — the chain of events led to a deeper inquiry by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department's specialized teams, who took over the investigation and, in turn, unearthed Allen's possession of child sexual abuse material (CSAM). Subsequently, an arrest warrant was issued by the Washington County District Attorney’s Office on July 24, and Allen was booked at the Central Detention Center in San Bernardino.
In light of the disturbing revelations, detectives anticipate the likelihood of more young victims and have made a public appeal for information. Details and a photo of Allen have been disseminated to aid in the community's cooperation with the ongoing investigation. "Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact Detective Wendy Winegar of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, Crimes Against Children Detail," a statement released to the press underscored, urging individuals with potential leads to step forward.
