In a sweeping push against rising crime rates, San Bernardino County law enforcement agencies have ramped up efforts to quell gang-related activities and illegal firearm possession in the region. Dubbed 'Operation Consequences,' the mission ran from July 27 to August 2, intensifying police presence and surveillance across several neighborhoods. According to an official announcement released by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, this period saw the execution of six search warrants and a series of interactions with suspected gang members and individuals barred from owning guns.
The operation, which moved through various locations including Lugo Avenue, Santa Fe Avenue, and Artesia Avenue, resulted in the confiscation of 18 firearms—two of which were untraceable ghost guns, and over two pounds of narcotics, as per the SBSD - Headquarters. Notably, the surge in enforcement activity led to eight felony arrests.
The Sheriff's Department was not a lone actor in this endeavor, but part of a coalition that included personnel from several other law enforcement entities like the Gangs/Narcotics Division, the Specialized Enforcement Division, California Highway Patrol, the United States Marshals Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force, and the Department of Homeland Security Investigations.
