Firefighters in San Diego responded to a vegetation fire late Monday evening in Fashion Valley. The brush fire, which covered an area of 20 by 20 feet, prompted the crew to call for additional firefighting resources to prevent it from climbing up a nearby hill. Fortunately, the incident, which did not threaten structures immediately, was contained before it could reach a local park and was limited to brush damage, as reported by the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

The San Diego Fire-Rescue Department's alert on the incident revealed that the first unit arrived on the scene within six minutes of the original dispatch call. It took firefighters almost three hours to extinguish the blaze. During the extinguishing efforts, they discovered an individual concealed under the brush. After a quick on-site evaluation, this patient was transferred to UCSD in critical condition.

In total, an array of resources was enlisted to tackle the fire, including but not limited to four engines, one division chief, representatives from one police agency, two helicopters, four battalion chiefs, two brush rigs, one medic, and one admin. This deployment amounted to a response team of 42 personnel. The response also included a designated fire investigator and an acknowledgment of assistance from the City of Poway's team.
