The streets of Ocean Beach witnessed a sobering closure as San Diego police arrested in connection with a fatal assault from 2023. The victim, Sean Glenn, was struck down last May on Newport Avenue and, after a battle for his life, died in August from the sustained injuries.
Glenn's confrontation on that fateful night, which led to his prolonged hospitalization and subsequent death, occurred barely past 10:50 p.m., with the assailant fleeing the scene immediately following the incident. The detectives of the Western Division took the initial lead, piecing together Glenn's last conscious moments in the world until his death moved the case to the Homicide Division, where the pursuit for justice grew more acute. The breakthrough in the case came from the detailed video evidence that captured the brutality of Glenn's assault, exposing Andrew Restrepo as the alleged aggressor, according to the San Diego Police Department.
This was not the full extent of Restrepo's purported violence. Detectives unearthed that he may have been involved in another assault that same month. The predilections of a man, considered dangerous, emerging in the pattern of attacks, this time aboard an MTS bus in Midway, a still anonymous victim left in the wake of Restrepo's alleged hostility.
Law enforcement acted on the evidence leading to Restrepo's apprehension on Tuesday with the precise, no-frills efficiency we hope for but don't always see. Booked into the County Jail, the 36-year-old faces a litany of charges, including murder and assault with force likely to produce significant injury. With the arrest now public, investigators keep the door ajar for insights that might still come from the community, prompting those with information to reach out to the Homicide Unit or anonymously via Crime Stoppers.
