
Manuel Cortes, a 71-year-old San Francisco resident, has been sentenced to eight years in prison following a no-contest plea to the charge of child molestation. Cortes, whose case was managed by the San Mateo County District Attorney, is also mandated to have no contact with the victim for ten years and will be a sex registrant for life. The announcement of his sentencing, published by the San Mateo County District Attorney, indicated that he would be transferred to the custody of the CDCR as soon as possible.

The investigation, originally initiated on June 21, 2022, by San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office Detectives, revealed that the assault began when the female victim was just six years old. After a thorough investigation and incriminating statements made by Cortes, a no-bail arrest warrant was issued. According to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office, the assaults occurred over three years.
Cortes was located and arrested in San Francisco on June 6, 2023, and subsequently booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility on a no bail arrest warrant.
