San Marcos Area Detectives have arrested in connection to a residential burglary after writing a search warrant in Temecula, authorities reported. Katie Rhew was apprehended two blocks from her residence at the 43000 block of Kensington Place following a traffic stop by San Marcos Area Detectives with the aid of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Deputies yesterday, according to a statement from the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.
Detectives searched Rhew's home, finding multiple items linked quickly to identify as stolen from a San Marcos residential burglary. Included in the haul were several designer bags with a cumulative value exceeding $5,000. The investigation continued to unfold as detectives turned their focus on the Chevrolet Suburban Rhew was driving, discovering two packages freshly taken from the De Luz area. These packages were promptly returned to their rightful owners while the thefts were investigated.
During the police action, Gina O'Neill, 38, was also arrested. O'Neill, who was with Rhew at the time of the stop, was later released on her promise to appear in court facing an unrelated charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. Her involvement with the burglary is not currently detailed.
The implications of the arrests extend beyond mere burglary, with Rhew facing multiple charges. She was booked into the Vista Jail for residential burglary (459 PC), illegal drug possession (11377 H&S), and identity theft (530.5 PC).
