The San Mateo Police Department reported a volatile confrontation between brothers that ended with one behind bars. The altercation, which involved threats with a knife and a gun, took place yesterday and was diffused by the timely intervention of law enforcement.
According to the San Mateo Police Department, authorities responded to a call about a physical fight at a home located on the 600 block of Magnolia Dr. Upon arrival, police detained one of the brothers on the front lawn. At the same time, the other was found inside the house unarmed, having earlier wielded a knife in self-defense. A search of the suspect's vehicle later uncovered a firearm.
The investigation named Graham Macarthur, 23, as the primary aggressor. "Macarthur was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, brandishing a firearm, criminal threats, as well as several other charges", the San Mateo Police Department remarked. Macarthur's situation was complicated further during pre-processing at the police department, where he was found in possession of narcotics.
Following a feigned illness, Macarthur was transported to the San Mateo Medical Center by paramedics, from which he attempted an escape leading to a foot pursuit. After being located on the rooftop of a nearby residence, a 10-minute de-escalation attempted by officers ended with him surrendering peacefully and being taken back into custody.
Graham Macarthur now faces multiple charges, including assault with a firearm, possession of a large capacity magazine, making criminal threats, exhibiting a firearm in a threatening manner, obstructing arrest, vandalizing property, appropriating lost property, and possession of a controlled substance. Following medical clearance, he was booked at San Mateo County Jail, with his bail and court date yet to be announced.
