The City of Santa Clarita has kicked off the Vista Canyon Bridge and Road Improvements Project in Canyon Country as part of its strategic plan aiming for completion by 2026. According to the city's official note, the new bridge, spanning 780 feet, will help alleviate the area's transit concerns and bolster connectivity.
The infrastructure initiative includes a two-lane bridge set to feature necessary elements such as a median for emergency vehicles, lighting, and safety barriers. In an effort to promote varied transportation methods, the project integrates a pedestrian and cycling path, with a new bike-friendly underpass.
Road enhancements accompanying the bridge construction will bring a traffic signal to the intersection of Soledad Canyon Road and Vista Canyon Boulevard. Furthermore, the expansion will introduce a roundabout and extend Vista Canyon Boulevard to the Vista Canyon Multi-Modal Transit Center, as detailed in the city's blog post.
The new infrastructure is set to facilitate traffic to and from the Vista Canyon community, including improved access to the Metrolink station. It hopes to serve as a secondary, and crucially, as an alternate emergency route. The city ensures that while construction begins, residents will see no immediate disruptions but can anticipate lane closures come spring 2025.
Completion of the project is aimed for the spring of 2026. Residents with questions or concerns regarding the construction can reach out to Jackie Lillio at [email protected] for more information.
