Victor David Magallon, a former employee of the Child Parent Institute, has been sentenced to 28 years in state prison after his conviction for the sexual abuse of two children. The sentence was handed down by Judge Troye Shaffer on August 19th, with the Sonoma County District Attorney's Office reporting that Magallon, 44, was found guilty of two counts of continuous sexual abuse of a child under the age of 14. The Santa Rosa resident faced trial last December, which resulted in his conviction following testimonies of the two victims.

As reported by the Sonoma County District Attorney's Office, District Attorney Carla Rodriguez highlighted the victims' courage, saying, "Their willingness and ability to confront their abuser in court was essential to obtaining this conviction, and to prevent him from having access to other potential victims for the foreseeable future." The investigation into the allegations against Magallon began in December 2020, following a report to Santa Rosa Police of his abuse towards two family friends, with the abuse believed to have started as early as 2009.

The case, prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Brian Morimune with assistance from District Attorney Investigator Dave Linscomb, saw the two victims describe their harrowing experiences on the stand. They recounted incidents of molestation by Magallon during drives, outings, and sleepovers at his home. It took less than two hours of deliberation for the jury to find Magallon guilty of all charges and allegations.

In addition to his 28-year sentence, Magallon has been ordered to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life. This requirement was part of Judge Shaffer's sentencing, recognizing the gravity of the crimes and their impact on the victims. The case was led by Sgt. Rick Boehm of the Santa Rosa Police Department, whose investigative efforts contributed to the successful prosecution of Magallon.
