
A tragic incident unfolded in West Michigan's Ionia County, where a car accident claimed the life of a 15-year-old Saranac girl and left another teenager critically injured, local authorities reported. The Ionia County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to the scene at approximately 2:11 p.m. on Friday, following reports of the grievous crash that occurred along Sayles Road in Keene Township.
The driver, a 16-year-old girl from Saranac, apparently lost control of the vehicle, which veered off the road and violently collided with a tree. According to a statement obtained by MLive, upon their arrival, deputies found the 15-year-old passenger deceased at the scene, while the 17-year-old second passenger sustained critical injuries and was swiftly transported to a hospital for medical treatment.
Meanwhile, the hospitalized 17-year-old's condition has been a focal point of concern. In a report by WWMT, the teenager was found "critically injured" and remained in critical condition at a Grand Rapids hospital, the incident's severity has led to inquiries and a thorough review by local law enforcement.
