
Authorities in York County are intensifying their efforts to locate Joshua Markey, a 47-year-old man from Red Lion, who was reported missing after he embarked on a hike in the area, Local21News reports. Markey was last observed on Thursday at approximately 8:42 a.m., when he left his vehicle near Furnace Road, just west of Indian Steps Road in Lower Chanceford Township.
Known for his fondness of hiking, Markey was believed to be trekking along the Mason-Dixon Trail, an area that intersects with Pennsylvania State Game Lands 83, which are sprawling and rich with paths that weave through both nature's silence and rustling life—the avenues he has often traversed, his footsteps a quiet regular on the beaten tracks, as conveyed by Local21News.
The missing hiker stands 6 feet 3 inches tall, is white, and approximately weighs 190 pounds, usually outfitted in hiking attire inclusive of hiking poles, providing a distinct look often identified with those seasoned in the rigors of the path, according to information from ABC27. The Pennsylvania State Police are asking the public for any information that might lead to locating Markey and urge those who can assist to contact the Pennsylvania State Police, Troop J, York Station, at 717-428-1011.
