Seattle's march towards more inclusive public benefits accessibility continues, with the city marking the first year since expanding its Affordable Seattle program. The initiative is part of Mayor Harrell's concerted effort to streamline the process for residents to apply for City discounts and benefit programs, making these crucial services within easier reach for all. The Affordable Seattle Executive Order has seen a tangible upshift, with Seattle adding three more programs to the CiviForm platform and signaling further expansions in the pipeline, as reported by the Seattle Information Technology.

Time-saving and user-friendly, CiviForm has revolutionized the application process, slashing the average completion time from 30 to five minutes. In a significant leap toward efficiency, 20% of CiviForm users have reapplied their information to access additional programs. A notable 76% of users, reacting in a feedback survey, expressed a high likelihood of recommending CiviForm to peers. In its first year post-executive order - more than 9,000 applications flowed through the system, demonstrating the platform's growing engagement with residents.

Engagement with CiviForm has directly translated to average savings of $2,575 annually for applicants. Most noteworthy, households engaged with the portal predominantly earn less than $2,300 per month and are typified by a three-person structure. Language inclusivity is a standout feature of CiviForm, supporting applications in languages such as Spanish, Vietnamese, Chinese, and Amharic, among others, addressing the needs of the 15% of applicants who communicate in languages other than English.

CiviForm's reach extends beyond individual residents. In collaboration with community-based organizations, the platform supports onboarding for staff across these entities, currently standing at 143 staff from 40 organizations. These partnerships have been instrumental in aiding 1,089 clients to date. Designed with input from organizations like El Centro de la Raza, the Chinese Information and Service Center (CISC), and the Refugee Women’s Alliance (ReWA), CiviForm has ensured that those without broadband at home, often from low-income communities, are not left behind.
