Seattle law enforcement took action last week against vehicle-related crime in South Seattle, apprehending two armed individuals and recovering a host of stolen items including firearms and a vehicle. The successful police operation took place on July 26 in the vicinity of the 2800 block of Rainier Avenue South, according to a report from the Seattle Police Department’s blotter.

Observing trafficking activity around 2 p.m., a routine patrol officer noted multiple men handling what appeared to be stolen goods linked to a stolen vehicle. The suspects were tracked down to a nearby business, resulting in their arrest where two were found to be armed with handguns. In the possession of the arrested individuals, police found two stolen firearms, fentanyl pills, drug paraphernalia, and burglary tools. Alongside these items were the stolen vehicle and shaved vehicle keys that are often used in the theft of automobiles.

The SPD provided details on the charges: A 30-year-old man faced counts of motor vehicle theft, unlawful firearm possession, possessing a stolen firearm, and trafficking stolen property. A 35-year-old man was apprehended on similar grounds, with additional felony warrants for previous offenses including vehicle theft and firearms violations. Charges for possession of burglary tools were also requested. The third suspect, 29 years old, was booked for trafficking in stolen property and motor vehicle theft, among other charges.

Booked into the King County Jail, the trio's actions have since set in motion an investigation by detectives of the General Investigations Unit.
