A tragic event unfolded at Hart Lake where a 31-year-old man from Six Lakes drowned yesterday afternoon. The incident, which was reported just before 5 p.m., led to a recovery operation involving the Oceana County Sheriff's Office Dive Team, and the Mason County Sheriff's Office Dive Team, with assistance from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, according to FOX 17.

The Oceana County Sheriff's Office shared that the search took their divers approximately two hours before they were able to successfully locate the drowned swimmer. Hart Police Department, which is currently overseeing the investigation, indicated that the man began to struggle during his swim, subsequently going under and never resurfacing. Alcohol is suspected to have played a role in this tragic incident.

The name of the victim has not been made public as of yet. Meanwhile, a statement released by the police expressed their sympathies, "We would like to extend our sincere condolences to the victim’s family referencing this tragic event," as reported by WZZM 13.
