
An incident at a Springfield barbershop on Thursday morning has resulted in the arrest of three men by the Springfield Police Department, after a shooting led officers on a pursuit that ended with the recovery of a loaded firearm and the apprehension of suspects involved in evidence tampering. According to a report from the Springfield Police Department, around 10:10 a.m., police were alerted to shots fired at a location on the 500 block of St. James Avenue.
Victor Cabrera-Quinones, the alleged driver of the getaway vehicle, was arrested after a chase where he was seen by the C3 officers weaving in and out of traffic, running red lights before being caught in traffic where he surrendered; in his vehicle, authorities found a large-capacity firearm. In a related development, two other individuals, Jesus Cabrera and Juan Rios, were detained at the barbershop on suspicion of trying to dispose of a shell casing related to the shooting thankfully no injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
The Springfield Police detailed the charges against the three men, with 43-year-old Cabrera-Quinones facing multiple offenses including carrying a loaded firearm without a license and assault by means of a dangerous weapon, Jesus Cabrera, 45, has been charged with evidence tampering and possession of a high-capacity magazine, and Juan Rios, 38, is also charged with evidence tampering along with possession of ammunition without the necessary identification card.
