Residents in St. Louis Park have been given a final notice to get their tree debris from the July 14 storm out to the curb for city pickup. According to an official bulletin, the debris must be placed by 7 a.m. on August 5 to ensure it is included in the city staff's final sweep. This is not a deadline for the city's collection service, but rather the last chance for residents to correctly place their debris for pickup. To be eligible for collection, tree limbs must be less than 8 feet long and situated as close to the curb as possible, steering clear of the sidewalk and street. The guidelines also specify that branches should avoid being within 5 feet of stationary objects like fire hydrants.
For those not able to meet the August 5 deadline, or who have branches exceeding the specified dimensions for city pickup, the city's regular yard waste collection service remains an option. As stated on the city's website, branches up to 4 feet in length and 4 inches in diameter will be accepted. Additional instructions and setout guidelines for this regular service can also be found on the city's page.
The city is also providing an extended opportunity to drop off tree debris at a designated city brush drop-off site. In light of the storm aftermath, extended hours have been announced for residents: August 3, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and August 4, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. This extension is solely for St. Louis Park residents, with no commercial drop-offs permitted during these windows. The city cautions residents to check before visiting the brush drop-off site on weekdays, as operations such as grinding may temporarily halt access to the site.
For any queries regarding tree debris disposal or pickup, residents are directed to contact public works via email at [email protected] or by calling 952.924.2562. This contact information seems crucial, especially as the bulletin emphasizes that "scheduling a pickup isn't necessary." Residents simply need to place their tree debris out at the curb, as close to the street as possible by the given deadline to ensure collection. With this system set in place, St. Louis Park citizens can substantially contribute to the city's storm recovery efforts.
