An arrest has been made following a recent armed robbery in Southeast Washington, D.C., as announced by the Metropolitan Police Department. The incident unfolded on Sunday evening when a victim was accosted by a group of five individuals, one brandishing a firearm, as they were situated outside on the 2200 block of Minnesota Avenue, Southeast, according to the authorities.
During the confrontation at approximately 8:19 p.m., it was reported that two of the suspects assaulted the victim while another showed a gun. The suspects then took off with the victim's belongings, fleeing the scene, and leaving the victim with injuries that were not life-threatening. The incident was confirmed by officers who responded to the scene and treated by DC Fire and EMS personnel upon arrival, as reported by the Metropolitan Police Department.
In a swift response, law enforcement officials were able to locate one of the alleged perpetrators close to the crime scene. The apprehended suspect, identified as 43-year-old Donta Taylor from Bowie, MD, was subsequently charged with Armed Robbery and Simple Assault. This breakthrough was facilitated by the meticulous efforts of detectives who investigated the incident.
