A South Philadelphia neighborhood is grappling with the aftermath of a brutal stabbing that left a 55-year-old woman dead. The incident, which unfolded on the 2100 block of South 7th Street, occurred early Sunday morning. As reported by 6abc, police were called to the scene around 8 a.m., where they discovered the victim with multiple stab wounds.

Officers responding to the distressful scene found the woman unresponsive, with severe injuries to her neck and both legs. In their effort to quickly apprehend the suspect, an individual was taken into custody for questioning. Despite this swift action, no weapon has been reported to be recovered as of yet, according to a statement by the police and shared by CBS News Philadelphia.

The Philadelphia Police Department has yet to release the identity of the woman or the individual in custody. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 8:26 a.m., as confirmed by NBC10 Philadelphia. 

During the ongoing investigation, the police are actively working to piece together the events that led up to the tragedy. With a suspect currently being questioned, authorities are hopeful to unravel the motive behind the attack.
