A man implicated in a homicide in Macon was tragically found deceased after engaging in a high-speed chase that ended in Henry County on Friday. 44-year-old Wayne Fuller, identified as the individual involved in the pursuit, succumbed to what is believed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. According to the FOX 5 Atlanta report, a Spalding County deputy had received information about the vehicle linked to the Bibb County murder and, upon sighting the car, attempted to pull it over on August 16 at around 2 p.m. This initiated a chase through Spalding County into Henry County.
The pursuit was joined by other law enforcement agencies and concluded with the deputy executing a PIT maneuver. As they approached the stationary vehicle, officers noticed blood inside and, upon closer observation, found Fuller inside, his life apparently ending due to a gunshot wound he had inflicted upon himself. The investigators attempted life-saving measures, but Fuller was declared deceased at the scene. A car associated with a murder in Macon was spotted in Spalding County, as detailed in a statement obtained by WSB-TV.
Earlier, on the morning of the same day, Bibb County Sheriff’s Office officials discovered 51-year-old Cotina Louise Fuller deceased from a gunshot wound at a Macon gas station. The Bibb County Sheriff's Office announced the shooting occurred at the Fast Trip in the 2600 block of Riverside Drive, with a call about a person shot coming in at around 11:07 a.m. The GBI will conduct an independent investigation into the chain of events that concluded with Fuller's death while driving a car associated with the fatal shooting of Cotina Louise Fuller at a gas station. The findings will later be submitted to the Henry County District Attorney’s Office for review.
No members of law enforcement were harmed throughout the chase or the subsequent investigation. Fuller's body was transferred to the GBI Crime Lab, where an autopsy will be performed. The GBI's independent investigation seeks to provide a comprehensive overview of the events, as confirmed by FOX 5 Atlanta.
