
Needles, CA became the scene of a violent altercation this past Sunday evening when a man was reportedly struck in the head with an object. The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department responded to an assault report on the 2100 block of Needles Highway at around 7:50 P.M., according to a press release from the department.
Derek Armstrong, a 35-year-old resident of Needles, CA, has been identified as the suspect in the assault and was arrested on charges of assault with a deadly weapon. The infliction of head injuries upon the victim, whose identity remains confidential, led to his immediate transportation to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Following the incident, authorities located Armstrong in the vicinity and he was subsequently taken into custody without further reported incidents. He is currently being held at the High Desert Detention Center, with bail set at $40,000. It is said that he awaits a court hearing.
Law enforcement officials are actively seeking additional information in connection to the assault.
