Police have apprehended at least three individuals linked to an armed home invasion that took place in the Sherman Oaks region, as reported by NBC Los Angeles. The incident occurred on Monday night in the 15000 block of Greenleaf Street, where the intruders allegedly confronted the family's nanny who was present at the time but not injured. This situation evolved further when authorities tracked the suspects to a residence in Compton, culminating in multiple arrests. The extent of the stolen property from the Sherman Oaks home invasion remains undetermined.
According to KTLA, a black car allegedly used in the robbery was traced back to Compton, where three individuals were seen fleeing and later at least two were detained. Police found and detained at least two people, seen sitting on a sidewalk cuffed. Additional details state that an officer retrieved what appeared to be a tracking device from underneath the vehicle.
LAPD officers responded to an alert of a burglary in progress, and the suspects were subsequently tracked down to a Compton neighborhood at the cross-section of 152nd Street and Maie Avenue, as FOX LA detailed. The authorities believe this group could be related to other recent burglaries in the San Fernando Valley area. Police caught the suspects just as they were unloading the stolen property before attempting to flee the scene.
The suspects are believed to have left the Sherman Oaks location, carrying over $200,000 worth of jewelry and designer purses, as reported by ABC7. Investigators had, apparently, been tracking the suspects before, while an LAPD helicopter assistance contributed to the location and arrest of the home invasion suspects. A second burglary reported in Sherman Oaks near the Fashion Square mall is also under investigation, although not immediately linked.
The home invasion frightened a nanny, who was obliged to escort one of the armed intruders through the residence, according to CBS News Los Angeles. All suspects allegedly involved in the Greenleaf Street home invasion have been placed under arrest. The LAPD continues its investigation, with police presence remaining formidable late into the following day in the Compton neighborhood where the arrests were conducted.
