Two suspects were arrested on August 1, 2024, in connection with a string of commercial burglaries in Thousand Oaks and Moorpark that occurred back in June, the Ventura County Sheriff's Office reports. The suspects, identified as Trayvon Johnson, 27, of Gardena, and Carlos Gudino, 24, of Long Beach, are believed to have been involved in at least six burglaries that took place during the early hours of June 17th.
Investigators utilized surveillance video to tie the two men to the burglaries, in which the suspects were seen shattering glass windows and making off with U.S. currency, each of the incidents followed a similar modus operandi. Through the efforts of various investigative units including the East County Special Enforcement Unit and the Thousand Oaks Investigations Bureau - Career Criminals Unit, Johnson and Gudino were eventually identified and apprehended.
According to the sheriff's office, the arrest of Johnson was made outside his Gardena residence, where a search warrant subsequently turned up evidence connecting him to the Ventura County burglaries. Following this, detectives located and arrested Gudino in Huntington Park. Both men were booked into Ventura County Jail on felony burglary charges, with bail set at $100,000 each.
Pending their court appearance on August 5 at 1:30 pm, at Ventura County Superior Court, the Thousand Oaks Police Department is taking this opportunity to encourage the public to stay vigilant, "If you see something, say something," and to report any suspicious activity to their non-emergency line or directly via 911. The community is also encouraged to engage with local law enforcement via social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and the Nixle alert system for updates and advisories.
The Ventura County Crime Stoppers organization is offering up to $1,000 for tips leading to arrests and charges in such cases, with assurances of anonymity to those who provide valuable information.
