
Firefighters from the North County Fire Protection District rushed to extinguish a blaze at an apartment in Fallbrook on Sunday evening. According to a Facebook post by the North County Fire, the fire broke out in the 1200 block of Alturas Road at approximately 6:09 PM.
The first crew arrived swiftly, only seven minutes later, to find the fire actively consuming a unit on the second floor. Attempts were made by the crew to combat the fire inside the apartment aggressively and successfully stopped it from spreading to adjacent units. In the fray, three bystanders had tried to take down the flames with fire extinguishers before assistance arrived and consequently suffered smoke inhalation. They were assessed and released at the scene.
The post also noted that two adults have to face the reality of being displaced due to the damage caused by the fire. The involved parties are currently contending with the aftermath of this incident that has momentarily uprooted their lives. The cause of the fire is still being investigated by the North County Fire Investigation Unit to peel back the layers of this hazardous occurrence and perhaps to prevent a similar event in the future.
Community members have expressed their concern and are rallying to support those affected. Local aid groups are stepping in to provide temporary housing solutions and necessities for the displaced residents.
