A 16-year-old girl was hospitalized following a road rage shooting in Riverview, with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office reporting the arrest of a 37-year-old man in connection with the incident. The altercation escalated into gun violence around 5 p.m. yesterday near South Falkenburg Road and Camden Field Parkway.
Authorities identified the suspect as Rasool Hakeem, who, according to ABC Action News, was involved in an altercation with another vehicle on the road when the incident took place. The exact circumstances leading up to the shooting remain part of an ongoing investigation, the teen victim was admitted to a local hospital soon after the shooting.
The arrest was made earlier today following the incident. The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office moved quickly, picking up Hakeem less than 24 hours after shots rang out. Deputies said in a statement obtained by WTSP, "the man accused of firing the shots was arrested."
In an admission to authorities, Hakeem reportedly said that he fired his gun twice during the road rage incident.
