A suspect in attempted vehicle theft in the Northeast has been taken into custody. The incident, which occurred last Friday around 10:30 a.m., began when a woman found a teenager in the driver’s seat of her SUV on the 600 block of 2nd Street, Northeast. Responding to her demands, the suspect backed into another parked car and fled the scene on foot, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

The police called upon the community to assist in identifying the suspect after releasing his photographs on Tuesday. The following day, a 17-year-old male from Southeast turned himself in at the Sixth District Police Station.

The Metropolitan Police Department reports that he is now facing multiple charges, including Unlawful Entry Of A Motor Vehicle and Theft (First Degree), as well as Leaving After Colliding—Property Damage.
