As reported by the official website of the Governor of Texas, the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is now tasked with this extensive data aggregation effort. They will begin directing hospitals and additional identified providers to start collecting relevant financial data by November 1. According to Abbott, the policy change comes in response to "President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris' open border policies," which have allegedly resulted in Texas bearing the financial brunt for healthcare provided to illegal immigrants.
