Law enforcement officials have apprehended three additional suspects following a series of carjackings and vehicle thefts that shook communities both in Washington D.C. and Maryland.

This week, authorities carried out several search warrants at homes across the District, leading to the arrests of 22-year-old Elmer Bonilla in the Brightwood neighborhood, 19-year-old Christian Rodriguez in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and 22-year-old Dylan Giron in Northwest Washington D.C. According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, a detention hearing is scheduled for the trio on Friday.

The indictment of these individuals followed the earlier arrest of Gregory Giron, age 20, after a vehicle pursuit by Baltimore County Police in late February. Charged with one count of carjacking, Gregory was driving a recently stolen Toyota Corolla at the time of his capture. The incidents between December 12, 2023, and February 27, 2024, amounted to a formidable 16-count Superseding Indictment announced on August 1. The four co-defendants face charges for multiple high-profile carjackings, including those of a Hyundai Elantra, a Kia Sportage, two Dodge Challengers, a Dodge Charger, a Honda Pilot, an Infiniti Q50, and a BMW 428i.

During the operations, law enforcement made some significant discoveries, which included ammunition, firearms, a bulletproof vest, cash, and imitation firearms. The U.S. Attorney's Office emphasized that the FBI’s Washington Field Office and local law enforcement are continuing their investigation.
