A recent incident on Maui has ended in tragedy as a 23-year-old Kihei man, identified as Harold Mamuad, was found unresponsive near Maalaea Boat Ramp and later declared dead. According to KITV, the Maui Police were called to the scene on Saturday morning following a report by a 62-year-old Pukalani man who spotted the victim while trolling in his boat between the Pali lookout and tunnel.
The 62-year-old man, upon seeing a fishing pole bobbing in the water alongside the unresponsive individual, brought Mamuad to the Maalaea Harbor for medical assistance. Despite the life-saving efforts performed by fire and medic personnel, they were unable to revive him. The police have withheld the name of the man for 24 hours to allow his family to notify their relatives and friends, reports Star-Advertiser.
The Maui Police have so far found no signs of foul play in their preliminary investigation. Additional details will hinge on an autopsy that has been scheduled to determine the exact cause of death. The circumstances that led to Mamuad's state when found remain unclear, with authorities continuing their investigation into this matter.
