A collision on Fairmount Avenue in Kensington resulted in serious injuries yesterday night, according to the San Diego Police Department (SDPD). At about 11:23 p.m., a 53-year-old man driving a 2008 Lincoln Town Car reportedly lost control and struck the embankment on the west side of the road.
The incident unfolded in the 4800 block of the avenue when, for reasons still unclear, the motorist's vehicle veered off and collided with the embankment. A 24-year-old woman, driving closely behind in a 2005 Acura, was unable to respond quickly enough and crashed into the disabled Lincoln. The collision caused the man to sustain a brain bleed, necessitating urgent transportation to a local hospital. The young woman suffered complaints of pain in the aftermath of the accident. SDPD confirmed that alcohol was not considered a factor in the events leading up to the collision.
The official SDPD Watch Commander's Log provided event details, indicating that the Traffic Division units attended the scene and have taken over the ongoing investigation. The authorities have not yet released any updates regarding the current condition of either driver.
The police are encouraging anyone with information about this collision to step forward. Calls can be made to the Traffic Division's command handling the investigation or to Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
