Two Seattle Police officers were injured during a confrontation with a suspect linked to a stolen vehicle in Ballard, an incident occurring earlier this month. According to the Seattle Police Department, on August 6, the officers located a stolen car parked on the 900 block of Northwest Ballard Way, with the suspect asleep inside.

The situation escalated when the suspect, on waking, disregarded commands and attempted to dangerously put the vehicle in reverse. This act threw the officers onto the ground, resulting in their injuries, as per the SPD. In a bid to prevent the suspect's escape, the officers managed to quickly pin the vehicle with a patrol car, even as he continued to rev the engine.

Escaping the vehicle, the suspect fled on foot but was eventually subdued as officers deployed a Taser. He was apprehended and is facing multiple charges including possession of a stolen motor vehicle, eluding a police vehicle, felony assault, obstructing a public officer, driving under the influence (DUI), and sale/delivery of methamphetamine.

Following the arrest, the suspect was taken to Harborview Medical Center, and after being cleared, was subsequently booked into King County Jail with bail set at $166,000. The two officers, a male and a female, received treatment on scene and were later attended to at the hospital for stable, non-life-threatening injuries, as reported by the Seattle Police Department. The Seattle Police Department's Homicide & Assault Unit has taken the lead on the investigation into the case.
