A self-defense weapons store in Van Nuys has been burglarized for the second time in one week, echoing a disturbing pattern of break-ins targeting businesses in the area. According to a report from NBC Los Angeles, the latest incident took place early Monday at the Byrna Premier Dealer, where a rock was used to shatter a glass front door. The store, located on the 7600 block of Van Nuys Boulevard, specializes in less lethal weapons and had just been hit by thieves on August 20.
During the initial burglary, at least five individuals escaped with approximately $8,000 worth of merchandise. This was captured on security camera footage showing the suspects grabbing items and fleeing through the smashed window. Despite the break-in and stolen goods, no arrests have been made in connection to either of the burglaries.
Authorities were alerted to the second break-in just after 12:20 a.m. following a security system alarm that detected broken glass. Although the Los Angeles Police Department arrived promptly, the suspects had already vanished without leaving a trace. As of yet, the LAPD has not provided descriptions of the suspects or any information regarding a potential getaway vehicle, KTLA reports.
Still, the total loss from the second burglary remains unaccounted for, and it is unclear whether any merchandise was taken. Nor is there immediate word on whether these incidents are the work of the same group responsible for both break-ins.
