According to the coverage, veterans in attendance can avail themselves of various resources, including meals, clothing, shoes, and employment information. In addition to these, pet services, haircuts, and hygiene items are provided. Going beyond what has been offered before, this year features a "Landlord Hub" aimed at encouraging landlords to rent to voucher-holding veterans if they fill out interest forms.
Among the county departments pitching in are the Office of Military and Veterans Affairs, Public Defender's Office, and Public Health Services, with services such as U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs compensation, criminal record clearance, and vaccinations for Hepatitis A and COVID-19 being offered. The Public Health Services will be available Friday and Saturday, providing limited supplies of the Mpox vaccine and other vaccinations.
Initiatives from the Department of Child Support Services offer support specifics such as driver's license releases and debt relief options. Working hand in hand, the Housing and Community Development Services seeks to bridge the gap between veterans and housing options by supporting Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing voucher holders, as stated by the County News Center. Self-Sufficiency Services also assists with enrolling or renewing Medi-Cal health coverage, alongside Cal-Fresh and Cash benefits support.
Complementary transport to the event is available for veterans from the San Diego Sheriff’s Department’s Homeless Assistance Resource Team, educating them on resources such as job programs and mental health services. The Recorder/County Clerk is on-site assisting with procuring free birth certificates for California-born children experiencing homelessness under Assembly Bill 1733.
