The night of July 31 saw a shooting involving SWAT intervention at a business on the 1600 Block of West Pacific Coast Highway. A tense situation unfolded when a verbal altercation between a male and female suspect escalated into a struggle over a firearm, resulting in the male suspect being shot. Following the discharge of the weapon, the injured man entered a nearby open business, brandishing the firearm and instilling fear among the occupants. According to the LBPD, the suspect was subsequently hospitalized and remains in police custody, while the female suspect remains at large.
A tragic traffic accident also occurred on July 31, claiming the life of a male adult motorcyclist at the intersection of Anaheim Street and Cherry Avenue.
