Seeking a way to make a meaningful difference in your community? Look no further than the Department of Aging and Disabilities in Anne Arundel County, which is on the hunt for volunteers to support its Telephone Reassurance Program. According to a recent announcement, the program is actively recruiting individuals who are willing to carve out time between 8 am and 10:30 a.m., at least one day per month, to make well-check calls to older adults and individuals with disabilities.
The well-being of the community's older adults and disabled members often rests quietly on the knowledge that someone will reach out, and that a lifeline of words will be extended. As reported by the Department's latest news, the Telephone Reassurance Program ensures a daily call, a check-in that also extends peace of mind to family members who might live afar, knowing that their loved ones are not without contact.
Interested residents are encouraged to get in touch at 410-222-4339 or by dialing Maryland Relay 7-1-1 for TTY users, to request an application, and to, in turn, offer a regular touchpoint that can mean the world to someone in need of interaction.
