At around 6:55 p.m. on the corner of 14th Street and Cherry Avenue, authorities rushed to a hit-and-run traffic accident involving two vehicles where the male driver succumbed to his severe wounds after being taken to the hospital, while the female passenger also required medical attention; meanwhile, the hit-and-run suspect was captured after a search perimeter and SWAT team intervention, with a formal news release pending.
During the same evening, a no-hit shooting stemming from a traffic collision nearly turned deadly at the junction of Obispo Avenue and Coolidge Street, where a male suspect allegedly fired a gun at another man following an altercation, thankfully, no evidence of the shooting was recovered, and no injuries were reported. Shortly after, at approximately 6:13 p.m., an altercation on Long Beach Boulevard resulted in another male victim acquiring a non-life-threatening gunshot wound as two suspects fled the scene before officers arrived, the victim currently in stable condition harbors a testament to the violence plaguing the streets according to the LBPD Blotter.
Conflicting information surrounds another shooting wound reported at 12:01 a.m. on August 3rd as the victim, admitted to a local hospital with upper body injuries, refrained from collaborating with the police, leaving the investigation at an impasse. In an unrelated episode, just over half an hour later, officers investigated yet another no-hit shooting on Magnolia Avenue where multiple shots were fired into the ground, no injuries were reported but the suspect's motives remain under scrutiny as the case stays open.
To compound the evening's tumult, a sharp disruption hit 10th Street and Walnut Avenue when a verbal dispute escalated into a physical encounter, culminating in a male victim being stabbed, he is currently recovering in stable condition as the suspect remains at large.
