Tragedy struck the West Philadelphia community early Monday morning as a man in his 30s succumbed to fatal stab wounds. According to FOX29, officers were called to the 300 block of North Simpson Street around 5:40 a.m., where they discovered the victim with stab injuries on a sidewalk.
Attempting to piece together the incident's timeline, authorities believe the victim, yet unnamed, sought help after being stabbed inside a nearby home, said NBC Philadelphia. Running desperately for aid, leaving behind a trail of blood, the man collapsed and died just down the block from where the attack presumably took place.
Detectives later found a knife on the first floor of the home, which is being considered the murder weapon. The site of the stabbing is now central to a homicide inquiry that has gripped the neighborhood. As per 6 ABC, several people are now facing questions by the police in connection to the deadly incident, with residents trying to grasp the reality of the violence that has unfolded amongst them.
While no motive has been established and no arrests made, authorities are conducting interviews with three adults and a child, who were inside the home during the incident. The man, whose identity police have yet to release, was found just south of where the knife was discovered, according to the officials investigating the case.
