Woodbury residents have the opportunity to weigh in on the city's future environmental policies this month. The draft Environmental Stewardship Plan, a document in the making for almost a year, is now available for public review. Mayor Anne Burt expressed her enthusiasm about the community's input adding, "We'll also be sharing the link via our social media channels and InTouch email notification system," as stated by the City of Woodbury Minnesota.
According to a Council Perspective released by the city, locals can offer feedback online from August 12-28, and at two community engagement sessions slated for August. One session is scheduled on Wednesday, Aug. 14, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Ojibway Park building, and the other on Tuesday, Aug. 20, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Eagle Valley Golf Course. The sessions will include a visualization exercise, where attendees can indicate their preferred actions using dot stickers.
The plan outlines potential initiatives in various sectors, including Buildings and Energy, Economy, and Greenspace and Ecosystems, among others. The draft goals and actions within these categories will be available online and during the planned meetings. Mayor Burt's statement, "In the end, we will have a clear visual representation of the actions that are most supported by our residents," as detailed by the City of Woodbury Minnesota.
The push for an Environmental Strategic Plan came when the City Council recognized the need for an action-focused roadmap to maintain and improve the city's natural environment. Burt invited residents to stay engaged, saying, "Thank you to everyone for your participation up to this point. I hope you take the time to provide input this month. I'm eager to see continued progress as we identify which environmental stewardship priorities have the most community support." More information about the plan and the planning process is available on the city's website.
