In the early hours of the morning on Worcester’s Millbury Street, a routine police watch turned into a drug bust, leading to the arrest of a 44-year-old woman on multiple narcotics charges. At around 12:45 AM, Worcester Police officers claimed to observe Jamie Gervais engaging in suspicious behavior, which they believed to be drug-related exchanges involving crack cocaine and fentanyl. The account, detailed by the Worcester Police Department, describes the subsequent arrest and the charges laid upon Gervais.
The officers reportedly observed Gervais as she removed items from her pocket and interacted with a male counterpart, who appeared to place and retrieve items from the door of a residence and a window ledge. The man was stopped and was found to possess crack, which he voluntarily handed over and for which he will be summonsed to court. Gervais, upon being approached by the officers, was alleged to have voluntarily revealed a knotted plastic bag containing Fentanyl and additional crack cocaine from her possession.
Following the encounter, Gervais was apprehended and is now facing serious drug charges. The charges, as listed by the Worcester law enforcement, include distribution of a Class B Substance (crack), possession of a Class B Substance (crack) with Intent to Distribute, and possession of a Class A substance (Fentanyl) with Intent to Distribute. These charges reflect the severity of the narcotics involved, particularly the presence of fentanyl, a drug known for its potency and danger.
The Worcester Police Department has made efforts to publicly share details of drug busts as part of its ongoing campaign to combat the distribution and use of illegal narcotics in the community. While Gervais awaits her day in court to potentially contest the charges, the published report serves to remind the public of the police department's vigilance in its anti-drug initiatives. Information on further court proceedings or updates on the case has yet to be released.
