In the early hours of August 25th, a DUI traffic stop in Yucaipa turned into a significant narcotics bust, with deputies stumbling upon a cache of illegal drugs within the impounded vehicle. According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department, at around 3:03 a.m., deputies were dispatched following reports of a gray Honda sedan driving on the wrong side of the road near Wildwood Canyon Road and 6th Street.
Upon investigation, Deputy Hanlin found the vehicle on Wildwood Canyon Road and Colorado Street, where authorities made contact with the driver, 36-year-old Steven Adkins of Riverside County, who exhibited signs consistent with narcotics impairment. During the roadside encounter, several empty plastic baggies, about 4 ounces of Fentanyl, 5 ounces of Methamphetamine, 200 M30 pills, 80 Xanax pills, a digital scale, and $284 in currency were all discovered during a search of the vehicle, leading to Adkins' subsequent arrest.
Adkins now faces charges for DUI and several narcotics-related offenses, including transportation of a controlled substance and methamphetamine, as outlined by H&S 11352 and H&S 11379, alongside operating a vehicle with a suspended or revoked license under CVC 23152. His arrest resulted in a booking at the Central Detention Center, with bail set at $50,000.
