On the heels of a sting operation, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department has reported the arrest of a 63-year-old Yucaipa man for alleged internet crimes against a child. According to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, Guy Schneider was taken into custody after deputies who were posing as a 13-year-old girl engaged him in an online conversation, which led him to eventually express a desire to meet for sexual acts.
The undercover operation, which began on August 7, saw Schneider seek to arrange a meeting with the fictive minor. This operation is part of a larger effort to combat the online solicitation of minors. Schneider was arrested on August 30 when he arrived at the designated meeting spot, set up by deputies from the Perris Sheriff’s Station Special Enforcement Team. At the time of the arrest, he was found to possess not just one, but two firearms. The suspect was subsequently booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center, according to the Sheriff's Department's release.
With charges that include arranging to meet with a minor and contacting a minor with the intent for sexual acts, or attempted lewd acts with a minor, Schneider's bail has been set at $1 million. The department has not only promoted awareness about these incidents but has also encouraged the public to come forward with any information that could support investigations of this nature.
Sergeant Christopher Varela, who has been identified as the Reporting Supervisor, and the Perris Sheriff’s Station Special Enforcement Team are indicating a dedicated commitment to ensuring safe neighborhoods, free of such violent transgressions. The department asks that any person with knowledge regarding this incident should not hesitate to reach out to Deputy Hartert at the Perris Sheriff’s Station by calling (951) 210–1000.
