This week, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recognized Arlington Water Utilities at the WaterSmart Innovations conference in Las Vegas, awarding them the Excellence in Education and Outreach Award. According to the City of Arlington, this honor highlights their year-long efforts to encourage residents to save water and use WaterSense-labeled products through educational programs.
Unveiling their love for a community with every drop saved, Arlington Water Utilities' campaign "Love Your Yard" sought to instill the habit of continuously and sustainably reducing outdoor water usage. Through these initiatives, they managed to cleverly offer free kits in February, including sprinkler gauges and instructional guidance to fine-tune sprinkler output - a simple act, yet one with ripples of impact. According to the City of Arlington, their initiatives do not end with the turn of the seasons. They extend to interactive classes and social media enlightenment pegged to the EPA’s Fix a Leak Week in March, educating countless residents on the importance of leak vigilance both within and beyond the confines of their homes.
Arlington Water Utilities has worked hard all year on educational outreach. In 2023, they partnered with the Tarrant Regional Water District to conduct over 500 sprinkler evaluations, showing their commitment to helping households save water. In the fall, they also offered a program that provided 127 WaterSense-labeled showerheads, contributing to conservation efforts.
