Food lovers in Arlington looking to spice up their culinary skills will have to wait a bit longer, as the anticipated Taste of East cooking class has encountered a last-minute change in scheduling due to lower-than-expected sign-ups. Originally set for last Saturday, the class has been pushed back, with the Arlington Parks Department eyeing a sweet comeback with their upcoming Hispanic Desserts session on Saturday.
The change was relayed through Arlington Parks and Recreation which urged those interested to "Register today to guarantee your spot to make this beloved sweet treat!" It appears the culinary program aims to make up for the shifted schedule by offering an opportunity to learn how to create conchas and other Hispanic desserts that are widely cherished both within and outside of the Hispanic community.
The rescheduling move underlines the challenges local recreational programs face in engaging the community, particularly at a time when many are still cautiously navigating the tailwinds of the pandemic. However, the Arlington Parks Department is determined to keep churning out classes that cater to a diversity of tastes and traditions in the area.
