The Friends and Foundation of the Arlington Public Library (FFAPL) is gearing up to host their annual Fall Book Sale, an event known to attract literature enthusiasts and bargain hunters alike. Set to take place from September 24 through September 27, the sale will be stationed at a new venue this year, welcoming attendees to the First United Methodist Church located at 313 N. Center St. in Downtown Arlington. Book lovers can look forward to perusing through a diverse collection that includes not just books, but also jigsaw puzzles, CDs, DVDs, and large print materials, as detailed in an announcement made by the City of Arlington.
The festivity kicks off with a members-only preview sale on Tuesday, with the privilege to effortlessly start their haul before the public. An annual membership to FFAPL can be acquired right at the entrance for those who wish to join. Following the exclusive preview, the doors will open widely to the general public from Wednesday to Friday, providing ample opportunity for all to explore the shelves and find treasured reads for as little as $1 per item. Patrons should note that only cash, checks, and credit card payments with a $5 minimum will be accepted during the four-day affair.
Those hunting for an even better deal should mark their calendars for Friday, September 27, as the sale will offer all items at half price until 4:15 p.m. Furthermore, educators and nonprofit representatives are in for a special treat as there’s a designated sale for them starting at 4:30 p.m. With a $5 suggested donation, they can fill their arms with as many items as they can carry, provided they have proper identification to participate in this segment of the sale. It's noteworthy that FFAPL won't be accepting book donations at the sale; however, monetary contributions are welcomed and can be made at the cashier during the event.
