According to the National Weather Service, today's forecast includes a certain surge of showers and thunderstorms commencing around 11 a.m. with "showers and possibly a thunderstorm"; the report goes on to warn that "some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall," with expected new rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches.
Tonight's conditions in Atlanta remain challenging, with heavy rain continuing and intermittent storms expected into the early hours, though the wind remains a mild easterly breeze around 5 mph, the chance of precipitation is at 90%. However, for tomorrow, more showers and possible thunderstorms forecasted, along with tropical storm conditions by nightfall, the winds could gust as high as 25 mph while the rainfall insists on adding another 1 to 2 inches to the already saturated Southern landscape. Friday won't offer much reprieve with "A chance of showers and thunderstorms between 11am and 2pm" and despite a shift to mostly cloudy skies, a gusty southwest wind between 20 to 30 mph will whip through the city, tapering to a 10 percent chance of rain by night, according to the National Weather Service.
Looking toward the weekend, mostly sunny conditions reported for Saturday and a comfortable high around 78 degrees. However, there's still "a 20 percent chance of showers" once the clock ticks past 2 p.m. on Sunday. The beginning of the week, maintains a chance for showers and thunderstorms at 20 percent both during the day and into the evening on Monday.
By Tuesday, the relentless rain is expected to ease, offering a mostly sunny forecast and a high around 79.
