
On a regular afternoon in June, gunshots disrupted the peace at 239 Peachtree Street SW, police responded to the scene finding three people injured. The Atlanta Police Department reported that a 47-year-old man, a 69-year-old woman, and a 70-year-old woman, all sustained gunshot wounds but were alert when officers arrived. The victims were promptly transported to a local hospital for treatment, as indicated in the Atlanta Police Department' statement.
The suspect in this shooting, 34-year-old Jeremy Malone, was located by officers at the scene. According to Atlanta Police Department, Malone was armed, leading to a confrontation where officers engaged and incapacitated him. After being shot, Malone was also alert, and, like the victims he is accused of shooting, he was taken to a hospital.
Following the incident, Malone faced multiple charges including Aggravated Assault, Cruelty to Children in the third degree, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Reckless Conduct.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has taken the lead on this investigation, which is currently ongoing. Malone's motive and the circumstances leading to the shooting remain under scrutiny as the authorities unravel what prompted the violence that afternoon.
