The city of Austin is poised to experience a continuation of its warm, dry air as the month of September comes to a close. According to the National Weather Service, residents can expect unseasonably warm afternoons with highs near 95 degrees, coupled with pleasant mornings, as low humidity persists over the next several days.

While the days promise clear skies and calm winds, the relative humidity is predicted to lower throughout the day, with some areas seeing levels in the teens, and mostly 20s, "falling to some teens and mostly 20s as it has the past few afternoons," per KXAN's recent forecast. Despite a slight increase forecasted within the next five days, the humidity levels should remain low enough to maintain daytime comfort with a slight uptick overnight and in the morning hour.

Tropical activity in the Gulf may soon lead to the formation of the next tropical storm, Kirk. While Hurricane Isaac and Tropical Storm Joyce remain over the Atlantic and pose no threat to land, the potential emergence of Kirk warrants attention. Winds are expected to strengthen in the Gulf which could foster the storm's development later in the week, KXAN reported.

Models that previously suggested rain chances for the upcoming weekend have adjusted their forecasts, "neither model is showing that this morning but some numerical models are showing 10% rain chances mainly east of I-35 from Friday to Sunday," according to KXAN's report. These projections offer a glimmer of precipitation amidst the otherwise dry conditions expected to prevail across the region. Austin residents and visitors are encouraged to stay updated on weather developments as the week progresses.
